The Hellenic Mountain Leaders Association (HMLA) was founded in 2009 by graduates of the first Public Vocational Training Program specializing as Mountain Leaders.
The first General Assembly and elections were held on March 14, 2009, leading to the formation of the first Executive Board.
Since then, the Association operates as the official professional body representing certified Mountain Leaders in Greece.
Purpose
HMLA’s mission is to strengthen and promote the profession of Mountain Leader, as well as to develop alternative tourism and outdoor recreational activities in the natural environment.
The Association aims to: ➝ Safeguard the professional rights of its members ➝ Maintain high safety standards in outdoor activities ➝ Promote education, training, and lifelong learning ➝ Connect with national and international organizations that set standards and certifications in the field ➝ Enhance the quality of services provided to the public
Through collaborations and participation in institutional processes, HMLA contributes to the shaping, development, and recognition of the profession.
